Hi all,
I could use some help working in a windows xp environment. Instead of
using IIS, I have a different server for the web sites. I can also run a
ftp site that
maps to wordsalad.no-ip.org
I'm working with this dynamic IP services for learning purposes. I use
a service that maps the domain to my IP. That has worked fine for ftp and
for various web
sites. I use KWFS web server. Yes, I'd like to learn Apache but right now
I'm just
trying to get things working and the web server isn't the problem.
The problem is with the email server. I got this dvd on hosting email
servers (SMTP/POP)
and web servers, ftp, etc. On the DVD was a program called ArgoSoft email
server. It's
easy enough to configure so it should work. Again the domain name I'm
testing is
wordsalad.no-ip.org, which works for ftp server and web server. I was told
by the
providers of no-ip.com that my ISP may block port 25. Ok, I can see how
this might happen.
But I need to try to telnet to wordsalad.no-ip.org to see if that's
happening. I can't telnet to
the email server port 25 or port 23, the default telnet port. Why would
port 23 be blocked?
I stopped IIS so it wouldn't interfere with anything. It was suggested
that I try to telnet from
a remote location. I don't have a router. My request is to see if
someone can telnet to wordsalad.no-ip.org and use port 23 and then port 25.
Oh, I know I had to
change the service setting with no-ip.com to add the MX record. I added
record
wordsalad.no-ip.org and it still doesn't work.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
